Goose Hunting

One of the best places to hunt geese is on a farmers field close to a large body of water. Everyone knows the geese are out on the water, but try getting to them. They will spot you a mile away.

Many hunters will make friends with a local farmer and set up in their fields. Geese like to land near other geese. The fact that other geese are there means that it is safe. The other thing is that you need the geese to come close to you. Suppose you pick the right field and then they land on the wrong end of it. You will be out of luck.

What I am getting at is that goose decoys should be used. The goose decoys show the geese that there is a safe place to land. You should also have a goose call. When the geese fly overhead, a goose call can also make them feel more like coming down for some breakfast.

There are some goose decoys that are so huge, you can actually sit inside of it. You can be right in the spread of decoys. Then, when the geese come, you lift of the wing and let them have it. Geese aren't good at telling sizes and that is why these kind of decoys can work. Personally, I haven't seen anyone use one of these decoys, but they do exist.
