Chukar Hunting

A chukar is basically a grouse that lives in mountain regions. Most hunters never even come close to getting a chukar. The reason is that they can run really fast. The chukar technique is to run up hills and to fly down them. If they hear you, they will likely go up the steepest hill around at a very fast pace. The only way you can get one is to run up the hill and then get a shot off as they fly down. The truth is that you are going to be too slow to make that happen. I am not sure how anyone every gets a chukar.

I heard of one story where a guy shot one that ran up to the top of a very steep hill. The chukar was basically out of range, but the guy shot at it like 10 times and hit it with one BB in the head. The Chukar then rolled all the way down the steep hill to the hunter. In my mind, that hunter basically got lucky.
