Automatic Shotguns

Semi automatic shotguns are often the most popular choice. If you ask anyone what kind of gun they want, the first thing that comes to their mind is semi automatic.

Semi automatic shotguns were not popular for many years because the cost was almost two to three times that of other shotguns. They are still more expensive, but people are now more willing to pay the extra cash for it.

The main drawback of an automatic shotgun is that they are way too heavy. In most cases bird hunting, you have very little reaction time. I can't tell you how many hunters with these heavy semi automatic guns can't seem to get their gun up in time.

The other factor is that the natural reaction is to start shooting like crazy. People with semi automatic shotguns will try and get off all their rounds. What happens is that they will often not take careful aim. In fact, they miss a lot more than people with other types of guns.

The hunt I like for a semi automatic shotgun is a waterfowl hunt where the birds are really high and going over. Most people don't walk all that much in waterfowl hunts and with high birds overhead you can actually use the firepower.
